It’s been rumored for quite some time but yesterday Sony announced pricecuts for the PS3 along with the PS3 Slim. The PS3 Slim will come with you choice of a 120GB or 250GB hard drive and they start at $299. The Slim consumes 34 percent less power and takes up 32 percent less space than the Phat version. In addition to this news Sony also announced that the PS3 will also get new firmware 3.00 update that brings a bunch of new features including status indicator, custom themes, avatars, redesigned friends list and trophies. Sony has slashed the price of the current phat PS3 to $299 while we eagerly wait for the Slim this September 1.

The United States Apollo 11 mission was the first manned spacecraft to land on the Moon on July 20, 1969. On July 20 of this year, Google posted a logo on their website in honor of the 40 year anniversary of the landing. The logo, while first being a little difficult to read is genius. Each crater represents a letter or a part of a letter with the spacecraft has footprints leading to it representing the “l” in Google.

In two months the International Olympic Committee will name the city that will host the 2016 Summer Olympic games. That’s a whole seven years away giving the city that is chosen a ton of time to plan for the events. Although no city was chosen yet designs for the logo for each city in the bid to host the event has been created. It’s interesting to see what each city came up with. I personally think the Chicago logo is the strongest of the bunch.

Today Nikon introduced the COOLPIX S1000pj, the world’s first compact camera to feature a built-in projector. When you push a button, the camera projects your photos or movies on a flat surface at up to 40 inches in size. The camera also features a 5x optical zoom lens, 2.7-in. screen and 12.1 effective megapixels. The Coolpix S1000pj will be offered in black at a price of $699.

Apple is finally releasing the new version of OSX entitled 10.6 Snow Leopard. Apple has indicated that this product will be released sometime in September. The great thing about 10.6 on top of all the new features is that if you currenty have 10.5 the upgrade will only cost you $30.
