Atari Air Raid For Sale On eBay

Posted on 06 Apr 2010 | Tagged as: Ebay, Video Games | 1 views

Air Raid Atari

Currently up for grabs on eBay is a boxed copy of Air Raid for Atari 2600. This game is so rare that until now there was no known box of it in existence. It wasn’t even known if “Air Raid” was the actual title of the game due to the fact that there’s no label on the odd blue cartridge. There are currently only 13 known copies of the game. The current price of the cartritge and box is $12,600.00 with 4 days left in the auction.

Here is a quote from the seller:

History:

I clearly remember buying this game back in 1984 or 1985. My mother had taken me to a Tuesday Morning store in Arlington Texas. It was near the corner of Arkansas Lane and Medline Drive. Not too long after I purchased it, I got an Atari 800 and stopped playing the 2600. Since then, the Air Raid cartridge has been boxed up in my garage along with my 2600 and other games for over 20 years. The game box was stored separately and I just found it. I had no idea that I still had these game boxes. I can send you a picture of the other boxes upon request.

Facts For Collectors:

1) I bought it new in the original box.

2) This is the only original box known to exist.

3) In my earlier auction I stated, “The box was white and had very little if any writing on it. I only recognized that it was a 2600 game because of the cartridge. That would mean the cartridge was visible in the box. The box swung open or it might have had a clear window that showed the cartridge”. I believe I was remembering the white holder inside the box.

3) It did not come with an instruction book. The instructions are printed on the back of the box.

4) I understand that I need to verify the box is legitimate. On March 31, I met with Albert from AtariAge.com. He is the admin/owner of the site. He spent a while looking over the box and taking pictures/videos.

NES Stadium Events Game Sells For $41,300

Posted on 27 Feb 2010 | Tagged as: Ebay, Video Games | 185 views

Stadium Events NES game

Back in late 1987 Bandai released Stadium Events, a game part of the Family Fun Fitness series. Early the next year Nintendo bought the right to the series and re-released it as the the Power Pad. The two Family Fun Fitness-branded games that had already been released, as well as Bandai’s version of the running pad accessory, were pulled from shelves and destroyed due to Nintendo’s new Power Pad brand. In that time period there are believed to have been only 2000 copies of Stadium Events created and out of those only 200 sold to the public. Stadium Events is possibly the rarest game for the system that turned around the home console video game industry in the late 80’s which has been booming ever since.

Recently an Ebay auction popped up featuring a serious video game collectors dream, a sealed copy of Stadium Events. A copy of the game with the box included can go for over $10,000 but a factory sealed copy which was thought to not exist just sold for $41,300 in an Ebay auction.

Here are the words of the seller:

This was bought over 20 years ago so my memories are fuzzy (we have over 175 games – which, btw will be going up for auction in the coming months - all with boxes! – some unopened).  What I remember is that we bought it thinking that we could play it by itself and then realized that we needed the pad (?).  Somewhere in there it was recalled so the pads weren’t available when we went to purchase it.  We never got around to returning the game…lucky us!

Glyde is a new, easier way to sell video games, cds, books and DVDs. Instead of using your own keywords while searching for media like on ebay, as you search with Glyde you will see a window below the search bar with all the things you can possibly be looking for. Instead of starting your bidding at a certain amount when selling your media, Glyde automatically lists how much it will cost buyers based on the curent demand for the media which is based on things like days since release, rarity and popularity.

Shipping the media with Glyde is easy. Glyde will send you a pre-paid envelope for you to put your game in and ship to the seller. When the transaction is complete Glyde will take 10% of the final value of the game. Using Glyde could save you a lot of money in the long run vs going to trade-in stores like Gamestop.

Posted on 02 Feb 2009 | Tagged as: Ebay | 194 views

867-5309

In 1982, Tommy Tutone released a song that would change the way we look at phone numbers forever. Their song, 867-5309/Jenny, peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number one on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in 1982. The song caused thousands of people to attempt to dial 867-5309 which was a real phone number at the time in many areas, and ask for Jenny. One of the last available 867-5309 numbers, which is in the (201) area code, is currently being auctioned off on eBay. The number still recieves 8,000-10,000 calls from curious individuals looking for Jenny, over 25 years after the hit song was released. The current auction price as of Feb, 2 is $4,950.00 with 7 days before the auction ends.

Ecto-1

If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, somebody probably bought this piece of crap on eBay. My only question is does it have an 8-track to play the 1984 Ray Parker Jr classic.

Moller International M200x Flying Machine

Posted on 04 Oct 2008 | Tagged as: Ebay | 187 views

Moller M200x

A piece of aviation history is for sale on eBay. The M200X was the first flying car type vehicle to successfully demonstrate that it was possible to hover and maneuver a personal VTOL aircraft by someone with virtually no pilot training.

The key to the ease with which the M200X could be flown was the use of a number of unique engines controlled by a central electronic computer and sensor module. The engines received computer commands every few milliseconds that told each engine what to do to keep the M200X stable no matter what environment it was operating in.
