To celebrate Missile Command’s 30th anniversary, Atari has released a remixed version of the game for the web. The website says it best: Chock full of power ups, tricky enemies and intense boss battles, Missile Command by OMGPOP has the makings of a modern classic. This game actually has some amazing control with your mouse or laptop trackpad. You can play the OMGPOP updated version of the game or the original Missile Command.

Code Organ let’s you type in a website URL of your choice and it will play music based on the code of that website. It will actually analyze the code of any website based on what’s inside the <body> tags and will based on an algorithm, define chords, synth style and drum patterns. The music results are surprisingly and randomly catchy.

Yesterday at a press conference, Google announced a new tool called Buzz. Now Google wouldn’t be the Google Gods they are if they weren’t continuing to come out with new and better ways to communicate and socialize online. Google Buzz is a cross between Facebook, Twitter and Email. It lets you share images, videos and stories with your friends or with the whole world and it works in with Gmail which is great if you already use a Gmail account as our primary email because you will already have all the people you communicate with built-in. Instead of just emailing a story to friends with annoying attachments and links to videos and stories, why not just send them the pictures, videos, stories and your thoughts right in Buzz? It currently has built-in Picasa, Flickr, Google Reader, and Twitter integration. Google also rolled out a phone app that works with Buzz.
Features include:
Photo friendly: See thumbnails with each post, and browse full-screen photos from popular sites.More @ Google Buzz.

Multicolr Search Lab is a website that lets you search over 10 million of the most interesting images on Flickr by color. You can add or remove up to 10 out of 120 colors at a time. The sample pictures above have two of my favorite colors, blue and yellow. You can see how all the pictures look like they belong in a set together when in reality they’re taken by many different artists.

To celebrate the PlayStation’s 15th anniversary, Sony designed a cool Flash site with a timeline of the PlayStation products over the past 15 years. The site can be navigated by either the graphics on the top or the history timeline along the bottom of the site. Once you click on a particular console or portable device, information detailing that machine will pop up along with pictures and ads from when that console was on the market.
The site can be found here.

TinEye let’s you search for images with that same image. It may sound stupid but it’s actually pretty useful in some instances. It’s true usefulness comes when you see an interesting image and wonder what it is, and where it originates from. It’s also great if you posted an image online that you own the rights to and you want to see if anyone is using it without your permission.
The website is http://www.tineye.com/.

Mystery Science Theater 3000, the great show once on Comedy Central and then on SciFi Channel before being canceled off the air about 10 years ago can now be found on Hulu. This show is about a human and two robots stuck on an evil ship forced to watch horrible movies. The three of them tear the movie apart making fun of everything from the actors to the low budget props to the music to the..well.. they knock the whole movie. It’s a formula that actually works and it’s one of my favorite shows of all time. There are currently only 5 one and a half hour episodes available.

Ever wonder how much sugar you’re really eating or drinking when you’re enjoying your favorite tasty treat? The website http://www.sugarstacks.com/ will let you know through pictures that show the snack along with sugar cubes symbolizing the amount of sugar in that snack. The results are a bit surprising. One can of soda for example which I thought would only have two or three sugar cubes worth of sugar turns out to have nine and a half cubes worth of sugar. a Cinnabun roll has fourteen!

Did you know that there are 120 different crayon colors? Some crayons have fun names like Fuzzy Wuzzy Brown and Purple Mountains’ Majesty while others just have names like Salmon and Blush. For those times when you need some color inspiration while designing a web page, check out colourlovers.com crayon chart which provides all 120 crayon names along with Hex and RGB codes for easy web input. Here are my favorites from the list followed by their hex color code:

In case you got bored with CubeECraft Papercraft Toys and are interested in something new, you may want to check out Marshall Alexander’s website which offers diagrams you can print out, cut out and have fun with. The one-piece papertoys consist of a single flat piece of paper, which by folding is transformed into a 3-dimensional model. There’s some really neat stuff on the site including all kinds of monster characters, robots, insects, fish, even 1970’s video game consoles.

With more and more people transitioning from older 4:3 televisions to newer LCD and Plasma 16:9 TVs, you knew it was only so long before YouTube would make the transition also. Earlier this week (as an early holiday present) YouTube went from a standard 4:3 screen ratio to a 16:9 screen ratio, making it too widescreen. What that means is that all the videos you’ve uploaded or seen in the past will have the black bars on the left and right side of the video. From here on out though more and more people will be shot and uploaded in HD widescreen making the black bars more and more uncommon over time.

Logging into Google earlier today I noticed a new feature: Themes. Themes let you customize your Gmail experience with a distinct look. There are currently about 35 themes to choose from and I’m sure Google will add more in the future. Some of the themes are even customized to you depending on your location. To choose a theme, go to Gmail and click a thumbnail on the Themes tab of your Settings page.

Search millions of historic photos from the Google LIFE photo archive, stretching from the 1750s to today. Most were never published and are now available for the first time through the joint work of LIFE and Google. Once you find a photo that interests you, click it for a larger version with a short description along with the location, date taken, photgrapher name and size of the photo. You can browse the photos through decades, categories or just choose to search whatever you have in mind.

Gmail: Google’s approach to email, has recently announced a bunch of new updates. Gmail has already not too arguably been the best online e-mail solution and the new slew of updates just prove that even more. Maybe with all these new features, Google will finally take Gmail out of Beta? Here are the highlights of the new features:

Following the trend of TV media going online recently, MTV dropped a bomb today by flipping the switch on mtvmusic.com. The site has tons and tons of music videos to watch from the MTV vintage vault to present day material (broadband or FIOS internet connection highly recommended). The site is currently in Beta but the music videos they have are up and running well. Just type in the artist or song you’re looking for and see if it’s available yet on the service. Yup, this internet thing may not be a fad afterall…
