Bejeweled 2 iPhone / iPod Touch Wallpaper

Bejeweled 2

Popcap Games, the creator of many fun computer games recently created a few iPhone / iPod Touch wallpaper images. The wallpaper graphic on the right is my favorite one. It’s of the popular game Bejeweled 2. You’ll notice the bottom has a blank area that looks like a button. That’s the area where you Slide to Unlock once you turn on the system.

To install this wallpaper, follow these simple steps:

  1. Download the wallpaper by right clicking it and clicking “save as” or by just dragging it to your desktop
  2. With your iPhone or iPod touch connected, launch iTunes and click on the Photos tab and click “Sync photos from”
  3. From the pop-up menu choose the folder/destination in which you have placed the pictures and sync
  4. On your iPhone or iPod touch. Go to the photos button and click the album where your wallpaper is located
  5. Select the new picture you want to use as a wallpaper and click the icon in the lower left corner and select “Use as Wallpaper”

Street Fighter IV Dragon Punching Onto iPhone

Street Fighter IV iPhone

Capcom has announced that Street Fighter IV is headed to the iPhone later this year in March. The above picture is how many fans hope it would look on the iPhone but the truth is that the iPhone can’t pull off what the latest generation consoles can do. Another serious question gamers may have is how on earth can anyone pull off Street Fighter combo moves without a D-pad or buttons? With a virtual pad and buttons of course.

I think that instead of this virtual pad nonsense Capcom could have come up with a more creative solution. Look at what Konami did with metal Gear Solid Touch and what Sega did with Super Monkey Ball. It’s definitely possibly to create some unique controls on the iPhone without these silly virtual pads. With the iPhones built in motion sensor and multi-touch capabilities there are endless possibilities of how to pull of a great game.

Sonic 4 Coming Out This Summer. iPhone?

Posted on 06 Feb 2010 | Tagged as: Video Games | 88 views

Sonic 4

Sonic The Hedgehog 3 came out over 15 years ago. There have been many additional Sonic games after Sonic 3 but none have been classified as a true sequel until now. Sonic 4 Episode 1 is due to come out this summer. By Episode 1 I take it Sega will be releasing multiple episodes of Sonic 4 to follow this. Although it’s not confirmed by Sega, the game may also be hitting the iPhone in addition to PSN, XBOX Live and WiiWare. The official website has hints all over it that there is an unannounced platform that the game will be released on. And with iPhone games selling so well lately, Sega would be crazy to pass up that market.

iPhone Lite Apps

If you’re looking to get some free demos on your iPhone, your prayers are being answered. Even though $10 isn’t too much to spend on a quality game, companies like Sega are still starting to release lite versions of app games which feature unlimited play of a limited number of levels. The latest lite apps released include some very popular games in Rolando and Super Monkey Ball.

Peggle Getting a Touch of Apple

iPod Peggle

A PopCap representative recently confirmed to Joystiq that Peggle is launching on the iPhone in early March which makes one wonder how many gadgets/consoles will we see this game on? Not that it’s a bad game by any means. Even though the theme behind the game was stolen from The Price is Right’s “Plinko”, Peggle creators Popcap still were smart enough to find a way to get Plinko into our homes and hearts and I’ll be buying this game to kill time during my long daily Metro trips.

iPhone Cupcakes, Even Cuter than the Icons

iPhone Icon Cupcakes

They should change the phrase to The Way to a Man’s Heart is Through His iPhone. Seeing the colorful frosting on the top of these cupcakes make me want one so much more than just a typical batch. It’s not just the bright colors that attract me, it’s also the meaning behind the icons displayed on the cupcakes. The Apple iPhone is one of the greatest inventions and an awesome device.. when it doesn’t freeze up on me.

Pole Position Remix

If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch and love Pole Position then Prepare to qualify because Pole Position: Remix is now available on your overpriced Apple device’s AppStore for $10. The features include tilt steering, themed levels and a new track. I’m going to read up on the reviews before I purchase this one but hopefully Namco put time into this game unlike the version of Ms. Pacman I have on my cell phone.

MotionX Poker iPod Touch Review

Posted on 20 Sep 2008 | Tagged as: Deals, Technology | 270 views

I’m a sucker for a good addictive game so when I heard that MotionX Poker recently dropped in price from $4.99 to $.99, I had to check it out. The game is really well made. Great graphics, unlockable content and addictive gameplay. The game plays similar to Yahtzee. The neatest feature about this game is also its greatest enemy. To roll the dice you actually shake your iPod Touch/iPhone. While it’s fun to shake at first, it loses its joy after a while and I wish there was an alternative ‘roll’ button. The sound and music in the game is top notch. Overall it’s well, well worth the one dollar and I’ve never been able to buy anything this much fun at the dollar store.

MotionX also released a free dice application that’s not really game but just a dice rolling simulation that will give you an idea of how MotionX Poker will play.

EA Announces iPhone SimCity

iPhone Sim City

Today EA Mobile announced nine titles in development for the iPhone and iPod touch includes YAHTZEE Adventures, EA Mini Golf, Lemonade Tycoon™, Mahjong, MONOPOLY: Here & Now The World Edition, SimCity, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 09, Need for Speed™ Undercover, and The Sims™ 3.

Although I’m sure the graphics of SimCity iPhone will be better than Sim City 2000, I can’t help but pray that the gameplay is similar to that game. No need to slow down the gameplay with fancy graphics and menus.

LED Electronic Football Coming to iPhone

Posted on 28 Aug 2008 | Tagged as: Video Games | 214 views

Before the Game Boy was invented, handheld LED games were awesome. They usually only consisted of a handful of different combinations of LED screens and 2-3 different bleep and bloop sounds but they were fun! The classic 1970’s LED football game is being remade for the iPhone and iPod Touch and it will only cost $.99. Here’s to hoping they keep the beeps and squeeks of the original.

Apple application store

As a new iPod Touch owner I am very interested in Apple’s latest announcement of Apps or Applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. All iPhones including both the new 3G phones and older first gen models can upgrade to firmware 2.0 for free which gives them access to the app store. iPod Touch users can also upgrade their firmware to 2.0 for a $9.99 fee. The applications range in function from games to productivity apps to social networking apps and give 3rd parties a chance to develop software for Apple iPhones and iPods. Some applications are free while others range in price from $.99 to $9.99 and more. More App Store information can be found here.

Apple iPhone 3G

There had been a lot of speculation up to today about what information Steve Jobs would be releasing at this years WWDC 2008 keynote presentation. It was announced today that it was indeed the 3G iPhone which many have been waiting for. The new iPhone will have many new features including, real GPS, faster download speeds, a new service called MobileMe which will sync your computer and phone similar to Outlook and much greater developer support.

The best news is that the 3G phones start at $199 for the 8GB model, a dramatic decrease in price from the $399 8GB model previously released last generation. The updated models are similar in size to the previously released model with new curved edges (a la Macbook Air). Check out Apple.com/iphone for more pictures and videos of the phone in action. The iPhone 3G will be coming out July 11.
