Online Retailers Packaging Can Be Ridiculous

I’m guilty of ordering things online but the packaging of the material can be a bit bizarre. You can get a huge box the size of a toaster oven with nothing but a thumbdrive and a ton of bubble wrap in it. The first time you get a package like this you think they just ran out of the small boxes but it seems like retailers consistently over box. Not great for the environment. More pictures here.


yes, i agree. they definitely waste too much by over packaging. I ordered a digital picture frame once from amazon and they put this small digital picture frame in a big box. I have never understood that.
Wow, that’s pretty nuts.
However, keep in mind that buying stuff online remains a better environmental choice in that it saves you the drive to the store. And in the case of sites like eBay, you could be buying a used item, which avoids all the environmental costs of making new items. So its hard for me to get too angry at these guys…
